Message from Retiring NAMME Board Member Jose Berrios
Dear Friends,
After twenty years with the Gannett Company I have decided to take early retirement effective March 1.
I will be setting up a consultant firm that specializes in diversity management and targeted searches for executives of color. Stay tuned.
As a member of NAMME’s board of directors and longtime member, it has been a distinct privilege to have served on the board and participated in the many programs and activities offered by NAMME. This organization is one of a kind and deserves all the support that media and information companies can provide. It has helped many of its members throughout their careers by advocating and pushing our media companies to do more. We have built a respected record in the industry but much more must be done. I urge you to continue supporting NAMME and participating actively in its programs.
While I am stepping down from the board, the Gannett Company will continue to support NAMME. One of the proudest moments for me was when my company agreed to provide office space for NAMME at our corporate headquarters. Virgil Smith, Gannett’s new VP/Talent Management and former Publisher of the Asheville (NC) Citizen Times, will continue our legacy of support while serving on the board.
I wish you much success!
Jose Berrios
