The Benefits of Joining NAMME

NAMME is an influential organization of media managers and executives of color working in newspapers, magazines, broadcasting and new media in editorial and on the business side. NAMME exists to encourage more diversity among the senior ranks of the media industry, as well as more informed discussion of how to better serve multi-cultural communities. NAMME also serves as a resource to the media industry on diversity issues. But above all, through NAMME one can meet and develop relationships with other accomplished media executives, inspire and encourage those following behind them and be a voice for change in the industry.

Executive Recruitment

The NAMME web site serves its members and the media industry by listing managerial and professional opportunities. The listings also are sent to members via email. More »

Maynard Management @ Kellogg

MMK is an intensive five-week program for news and business-side managers that offers an in-depth view of the newspaper industry and the challenges facing the industry. Field visits, where teams of MMK fellows spend time at a paper and produce a research report, are a special component of the program. NAMME offers one fellowship each year to MMK that is funded by John L. Dotson Jr., publisher of the Akron Beacon Journal and the former board chair of the Maynard Institute. The John L. Dotson Jr. Media Management Fellowship is available to NAMME members only. More »

McCormick Tribune Fellowship

The NAMME Foundation administers the McCormick Tribune Fellowship in partnership with the McCormick Tribune Foundation. The initiative is an innovative executive development program for high-performing senior managers and executives of color in the media. The initiative offers fellows a multi-faceted experience designed not only to help them individually in their careers but also to give other media leaders the benefit of the wisdom and insights the fellows have to offer. As part of the initiative, four fellows attend the Advanced Executive Program for newspaper executives; the others attend the Management Development Seminar for television executives. Both seminars are held at the Northwestern University's Media Management Center, Evanston, IL. More »
