A New Year
Fireworks burst as the old gives way to the new. Confetti scatters, then floats, sparking awe and delight. In unison, millions of people raise their voices with a single wish for each other: Happy New Year!
And, for no other reason than the fact that one day in December has slipped into one day in January, we gain a new optimism, a sense of power about what can be, a resurgence of commitment to things of importance. We dedicate ourselves to goals and accomplishing things we’ve not before achieved.
Let’s use that energy and those wishes for the good of us all!
On that pad of paper where you etched your 2005 goals – or on your PDA or computer or in your mind – add two goals that, once done, can reverberate across the planet:
- Perform a good deed for someone else every month.
- Every month, ask someone to perform a good deed for a person that they know (or don’t know).
If you’re a true believer, ask your person to also make this a monthly commitment and to encourage others to do the same.
Hundreds of you are reading these thoughts. Can you imagine our collective impact if each one of us did this diligently? Might there be more smiles, more civility, more self-confidence, more compromise, more giving, more sharing, more wishing, more fulfilling, more Happy New Years? Let’s try it and see!
You have just experienced a Bright Moment.
